The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) is the labor organization working to protect professional fire fighters across the United States and Canada. IAFF Local 1605 is made up of Hagerstown’s 71 professional fire fighters. In 2005, the members of IAFF Local 1605 formed a non-profit philanthropic Foundation.
About the IAFF Local 1605 Foundation, Inc.
The IAFF Local 1605 Foundation, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to improving the health and welfare of residents in the Greater Hagerstown and Washington County area. Since its inception, we have proudly contributed over $2.1 million to local non-profits and charities. Additionally, we lead crucial smoke detector and fire prevention campaigns to ensure the safety of our community.
Our commitment to Hagerstown and its surrounding areas goes beyond the job. As residents and first responders, we risk our lives daily to protect our neighbors' safety and well-being. This dedication continues off-duty as we volunteer thousands of hours organizing and hosting the annual Bonanza Extravaganza in May. Our Honor Guard also serves the four-state region with respect and dignity at funerals and ceremonies, while our members actively advocate for public safety legislation in the state legislature.
